Creative studio RINPA (Founder: Yoshihiro Kunihara) has released “TimeSlicer,” a visual art camera app that enables users to record and visualize the passage of time in real time on iPhone. The app became available worldwide on the App Store on October 28, 2025.
It was initially launched in Japanese earlier in October 2025, followed by this global release including English support.
■ About TimeSlicer
TimeSlicer captures what traditional cameras cannot—the movement and flow of time itself. Using real-time slit-scan technology, it reconstructs motion along the time axis to create unique, layered visual expressions.
In moments when human movements intersect, time interweaves and transforms. Through the trails traced by a rotating body and by two people passing each other, the app reveals the hidden layers of time within everyday life.
No video editing or special settings are required; users can capture the unseen structure of time instantly and intuitively with just their iPhone.

■ Background
TimeSlicer was developed by Yoshihiro Kunihara, who was inspired by artist Toshio Iwai’s work “Marshmallow Scope.”
Kunihara first explored the same slit-scan technique in 2008 as a media installation piece, later reconstructing it as a mobile app experience that anyone could use.
After the release of the Japanese version, the app has now been made available worldwide.
